The Nightmare closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - The Nightmare lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The Nightmare wants to control from the top but Melendez keeps moving.
The Nightmare prevents Melendez from getting back to his feet.
The Nightmare controlling from the top position.
Melendez wants to get back to his feet but The Nightmare is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The Nightmare trying to control but Melendez is working from the bottom.
The Nightmare won't allow Melendez to get back to his feet.
Melendez being controlled here, momentarily.
Melendez wants to stand and escape but The Nightmare is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB#
The Nightmare drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says The Nightmare as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Melendez screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with The Nightmare! Nice submission victory there!

Harada waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Melendez.
Harada fails with an attempt to clinch.
Melendez takes one to the chin there.
A head kick by Melendez misses
and Harada counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Harada fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Melendez.
Harada misses with a wild body shot.
Harada misses the jab.
Harada connects with a right hand. Melendez shakes it off.#ROC#
Melendez is rocked!
Melendez throws a right hand that misses
and Harada rattles Melendez with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Melendez tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Harada dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Melendez stiff and motionless on the mat!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Akira Harada!
