#R1# Vandeberg lands a nice shot that snaps Pernet's head back.
Vandeberg connects with a crisp jab. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pernet is defended easily by Vandeberg. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Vandeberg! But no joy. Pernet shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vandeberg pinned against the cage. Vandeberg gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Pernet tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Vandeberg was well out of range. Poor timing from Pernet. Pernet tries for a takedown but Vandeberg sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jean Jole Pernet. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No luck for Pernet with that takedown attempt. Vandeberg fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Pernet on the side of the head.#T1# A punch combination from Pernet misses. Vandeberg throws out a counter right but Pernet avoids it with no problem. Jean Jole Pernet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vandeberg rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pernet moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Pernet misses with a takedown attempt and Vandeberg counters with a lovely straight right hand! Vandeberg lands with an uppercut that bounces Pernet off the cage and back into range. A cross from Vandeberg lands. Vandeberg changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Pernet walks into a jab. Pernet is breathing heavily. Pernet gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Vandeberg gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Pernet is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Christian Vandeberg! In defeat, Jean Jole Pernet stepped up to the mic, saying 'I surrender !'.

#R1##TD2# Pernet shoots in and gets a takedown into Johnston's guard.#SUB2# Pernet drops back looking for a leg! Johnston is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Johnston manages to kick Pernet off! Pernet jumps back into Johnston's guard. Pernet wanted to stand there but Johnston had control of the position. Pernet working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Pernet stands up over Johnston, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. #SUB# Johnston has his foot on Pernet's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pernet works his way back into a safe position though.#SUB# Johnston had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pernet defends it easily. Johnston can't keep his opponent in guard - Pernet advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Pernet looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Johnston knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pernet on the ground. Pernet landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. #ROC2# Johnston is rocked! Pernet is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Johnston is hurt! He's hurt bad - Pernet fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Johnston from any more punishment! Congratulations to Pernet! Great finish!
