#R1# Silva fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Silva tries a head kick but it misses.
Silva tries for a takedown but Sampson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Sampson shoots in looking for a takedown. Silva tries to sprawl out of it but Sampson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silva manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Silva throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Silva displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sampson. Silva throws a big counter head kick but Sampson avoids it with no problem. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No luck with that takedown attempt from Silva. Roosevelt Sampson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson Silva. Silva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. Silva goes for a double leg but Sampson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sampson continues to drive forward. Sampson moves out of range of the body kick from Silva.
Silva has his takedown stuffed and Sampson counters with a series of strikes. Silva will be more careful next time no doubt. #T3##TD# Sampson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Silva was covering up waiting for the punch and Sampson finishes the takedown easily into guard. Silva is wriggling around but Sampson manages to pass to half guard.

I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sampson connects with a nice short shot to Silva's temple. Sampson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.#T4# Silva wants to get back to full guard. Sampson is nestled in close to Silva, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Silva is looking for a sweep. Sampson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sampson in particular looking to stall. That was a close round but I would say that Roosevelt Sampson will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! #R2# Sampson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Silva is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Sampson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Silva fails with a takedown attempt. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Sampson gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Sampson apologises and we restart here on the feet.
