Johnsson stuns Cartwright with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Johnsson lunges at Cartwright with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Cartwright's hand. Cartwright with a lazy takedown attempt and Johnsson counters with a left to the body. A chopping leg kick lands by Johnsson. Cartwright looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnsson is fending him off so far but Cartwright persists. Nope, Johnsson circles away and we're back to standing. Gunnar Johnsson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cian Cartwright. Johnsson throws a body shot but no joy. A good leg kick by Johnsson. Cartwright gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Johnsson. #R1# Cartwright looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Cartwright tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Skog swivels and escapes. Cartwright tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Skog defends well and Cartwright ends up having to push Skog into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cian Cartwright. That's going to take a lot out of him. A jab from Skog does it's job there. Cartwright on the wrong end of a nice hook. Skog feints and then cracks Cartwright's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Cartwright down. Skog punishes Cartwright's body with a nice straight punch. Skog cracks the inside of Cartwright's front leg. Cian Cartwright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cartwright moves forwards but Skog connects with a nice, crisp jab. Cartwright goes for a double leg but Skog avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Skog continues to drive forward. He catches Rienfeldt napping and manages to drive through into side control! Rienfeldt tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Cartwright presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Rienfeldt is trying to escape the mount.
Cartwright trying to control but Rienfeldt is having none of it. You get the feeling that Rienfeldt really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Alvarez has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cartwright.
