Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alejandro Lozano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Reagan Shields!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shields gets a takedown into half guard.

Lozano has one foot on Shields's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Lozano bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Shields! He dives into his guard looking to finish!


Shields is rocked!


It looks like Reagan Shields has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lozano tries to stand but Shields is controlling from the bottom.

Shields fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lozano to the ground. Shields is now in Lozano's guard.

Shields seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Lozano is wriggling around but Shields manages to pass to half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lozano tries to kick Shields off but Shields keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Shields is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Lozano looks like he's trying to stand up.

Shields slips a nice elbow through Lozano's hands, connecting with Lozano's forehead.

Shields is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Shields perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Lozano wants to get back to his feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lozano won't allow Shields to pass to mount.
Lozano scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Shields manages to mount him!

Shields is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Lozano is in real trouble.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shields has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Lozano has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Alejandro Lozano will probably get the nod.

Lozano looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Shields moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Shields shoots in and bounces Lozano off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Lozano keeping moving, preventing Shields from controlling successfully.
Shields is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Shields is working Lozano over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Lozano is looking to stand up but Shields isn't so interested in that idea.
Shields passes easily into side control. Nice work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shields working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Lozano pushes Shields away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Shields gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Shields is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Lozano is forced to tap! Great finish!
