PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Adam Lee (ranked 4661 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hola Aloha (ranked 4662 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adam Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hola Aloha!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lee gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Lee pushes Aloha off and scrambles back to his feet.
Lee fails in his attempt to clinch.
Lee shoots in looking for a takedown. Aloha tries to sprawl out of it but Lee keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Aloha manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lee tries to clinch but Aloha moves out of range.
Aloha throws a counter combo.

Aloha closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Aloha lands in his opponent's guard.
Lee trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lee is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Aloha is controlling him.
Aloha must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Lee is trying hard to land a takedown here. Aloha sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Aloha takes the fight into the clinch.

Aloha has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Lee is trying to keep an underhook but Aloha manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Lee has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Aloha is on him like a limpet, forcing Lee back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Aloha closes the distance and clinches.

Aloha is looking to take a break and control but Lee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Aloha wants to stand up but Lee is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lee is controlling Aloha's trapped leg to prevent Aloha from advancing to side control.
Lee blocking the ground and pound attempt from Aloha.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Aloha is controlling the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Lee swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lee looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lee tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Aloha was well out of range. Poor timing from Lee.
Aloha circles away from the clinch attempt
and Aloha counters with a three punch combo that has Lee backing up. Lee nods at Aloha to acknowledge the strikes.

Aloha moves into range and clinches up with Lee.
Lee stalling in the clinch but Aloha improves position.
Lee tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Aloha smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Aloha shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Lee shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Aloha sprawls well. Aloha wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lee gets slowly back to his feet.

A close round but Hola Aloha will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Aloha rushes Lee and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Lee tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Aloha just stands there and leans against the cage.

Lee passes Aloha's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Aloha is trying to control but can't.
Aloha tries to roll over but Lee keeps him under control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Aloha can do anything to dispel that myth.
Aloha is looking to control Lee's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Aloha avoid being mounted?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lee decides to stand and escape the position.

Lee stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lee wants it to stay on the feet.

Horrible takedown attempt by Lee or perhaps it was just good defense by Aloha, which made it look bad.
Aloha is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Lee with a body shot.

Aloha bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Aloha tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Aloha has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Lee tries to land knees in the clinch but Aloha avoids the damage to the body.

Aloha connects with a high kick.
Hola Aloha seems to be getting the better of the standup.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Aloha pinned against the cage. Aloha gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
As Lee backs off Aloha throws a huge counter combo but Lee manages to avoid it all.

Aloha clinches.

Aloha manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Lee controlling from the top position.

Aloha isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Lee stacks Aloha on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Lee!

Aloha is looking for a sweep.
Aloha sneaks back into half guard.
Aloha preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Lee works his foot free and advances to mount.

Hola Aloha showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Aloha closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lee quickly recovers to half guard.
Aloha is keen to just control but Lee is a slippery customer.
Lee wants to control but Aloha is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Adam Lee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Lee is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Aloha is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Lee jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Aloha walks away with a smile on his face. Lee gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
