PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kamenashi Razan (ranked 4612 p4p, 367 weight class) and Ieuan Thomas (ranked 5714 p4p, 406 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kamenashi Razan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ieuan Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Razan lands a nice shot that snaps Thomas's head back.
Razan connects with a body shot.
Nice shot lands for Razan.
Razan uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Razan connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Thomas's hands.
Thomas walks into a stiff left hand from Razan.
A jab from Razan does it's job there.
The fighters circling - Razan throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Thomas changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Razan misses with a looping left.
Thomas has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Razan finds it's way round the side to connect with Thomas's head.
Thomas looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Razan lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Razan throws a hook to the side of Thomas's head but Thomas sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Razan works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Thomas shoots for a takedown but Razan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thomas keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Razan.
Razan throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Thomas sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Thomas with the counter takedown but Razan avoids it easily.
Razan lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Kamenashi Razan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fighters circling - Razan throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Thomas changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Razan throws a jab when Thomas was well out of range.
Razan scores with a hook.
Razan misses with a looping right.
Razan scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Razan swings for the body but Thomas moves out of range.
Thomas changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Razan stuffs the takedown.
Razan scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Thomas moves away from the strike by Razan.
Thomas feints the counter takedown.
Razan connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Thomas shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Razan looks to land a right hand but Thomas moved out of range.
Razan misses with a looping left.
Razan throws a jab but it's blocked by Thomas.
Razan misses with an uppercut.
Razan cracks Thomas with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Razan throws a shot to the body.
Thomas slips under a jab.
Thomas throws out a counter right but Razan avoids it with no problem.
A slow jab from Razan misses its intended target.
Thomas swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Thomas misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kamenashi Razan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ieuan Thomas.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Razan pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Razan looks to throw the jab but Thomas is out of range.
Razan is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Thomas moves away from the strike by Razan.
Thomas appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Razan's corner calls for a 1-2. Razan obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Razan clobbers Thomas with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Thomas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Razan tries to avoid it but Thomas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Razan to the ground. Razan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A counter left hand to the body from Razan misses its target.
Razan works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Razan scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Razan sizes up Thomas with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Razan throws a shot from downtown. Thomas moves away and avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Thomas walks into a jab.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Razan enables Thomas to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Razan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Thomas drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Thomas jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Thomas looks winded!
Thomas trying to control the position from guard on top but Razan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Thomas stays in close to Razan's body and controls the position.
Thomas trying to control but Razan is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kamenashi Razan dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Good exchange - Razan coming out on top.
Razan changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Razan rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Thomas counters with a nice double leg into side control. Razan won't be happy with that.
Razan bucks up and tries to throw Thomas off but instead Thomas has got his back!

Razan is trying to defend against the choke here but Thomas has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Thomas Tightens the hold and Razan taps out furiously! Thomas displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ieuan Thomas!
