TWGC 28 (135lbs, D1): St Petersburg Qualifier - Round 1 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a bantamweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Chester Drawers (ranked 4046 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaia Ky Jr (ranked 799 p4p, 96 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Gaia Ky Jr was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 3 losses; Chester Drawers! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 10 losses; Gaia Ky Jr!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Fedor Mirinova and Illya Tyunina.

Drawers seems to be working for a kimura but Ky Jr defends the submission attempt.

Drawers is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ky Jr is just riding it out for now. Drawers eventually gives up the hold.
Ky Jr is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
We've been hearing good reports from Drawers's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
