PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dominic Hart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Peters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dominic Hart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Peters!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peters gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Hart looks to land a combination but Peters avoids it well.

Hart rushes Peters and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Peters tries to score a body lock takedown but Hart shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Hart wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Peters tries for a takedown. No joy.
Peters tries for a takedown but Hart manages to get underhooks.
Dominic Hart has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Peters.
Hart can't break the clinch.

Hart decides to pull guard.

Peters is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Hart looking for a sweep. Not yet Hart, not yet.

Hart working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Peters doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Peters manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Peters is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hart is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hart has escaped and now he's on top!
Hart has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Hart stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Peters swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Peters escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hart gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hart wants to control from the top but Peters keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Peters had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hart is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Peters Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hart's back instead.

Hart defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Peters's arms.
Peters looks gassed!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Peters is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Hart is defending well though. Peters let's go of the attempt for now.
You can see the frustration on Hart's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Peters not allowing Hart to control his hands.
Peters is trying to stick to Hart's back but Hart is turning into Peters. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Peters's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Hart.

Peters has his foot on Hart's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hart works his way back into a safe position though.
Hart wanted to stand there but Peters had control of the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Peters throws his legs up looking for a submission but Hart uses it to pass to side control.
Peters is looking for a sweep.
Hart trying to control the action but Peters is working from the bottom.
Peters is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Peters dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Hart has taken the fight to the clinch.
Peters is trying to drag Hart to the mat but Hart just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Peters goes for a takedown attempt but Hart pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Hart throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Peters shoots in but Hart avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Dominic Hart has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Peters.
Hart tries for a takedown but Peters sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
A nice combination there by Hart.
Peters shoots and misses

and Hart counters with a single leg into guard. Peters didn't expect that.
Hart slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Peters has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hart can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Peters is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peters trying to work for an americana but Hart has managed to regain full guard.

Peters drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hart dives on top into guard.

Peters is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hart wants to control from the top but Peters keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

John Peters showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Peters shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hart counters with a good low kick that Peters was not able to check.

Peters gets a takedown into half guard.
Peters tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hart knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Hart is trying to maintain the position but Peters is very close to passing his half guard.

Peters is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hart is just riding it out for now. Peters eventually gives up the hold.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Peters is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Hart is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Peters!
