Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eric Draven!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steven Kennedy!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Kennedy misses
and Draven counters with a good, hard body kick but Kennedy shrugs it off.
Draven swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kennedy is looking to land body kicks.
Kennedy throws a half hearted mid kick.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kennedy is defended easily by Draven.
Draven throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kennedy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Draven moves away.
Kennedy steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Draven. That one must have hurt.
Draven's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Draven duly obliges.

Kennedy closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Draven did well to prevent Kennedy getting side control.

Draven gets back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Draven looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Draven utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kennedy wants to control from the top but Draven keeps moving.
Kennedy sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Kennedy throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Draven works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kennedy postures up.
Draven has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Kennedy is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kennedy wants to control from the top but Draven keeps moving.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Draven is looking for a triangle but Kennedy pushes his legs off easily.

Kennedy drops back looking for a leg! Draven is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Draven manages to kick Kennedy off! Kennedy jumps back into Draven's guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Draven walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Kennedy checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Kennedy rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Draven counters with a thumping low kick.
Draven lands a right hook to the body.
Kennedy misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Draven.
Kennedy tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Eric Draven is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kennedy goes for a double leg but Draven avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Draven continues to drive forward.
Draven takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Draven lands a nice looking body shot.
Kennedy lands a right hook to the body.

Kennedy gets a clinch.
Kennedy jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Draven walks away with a smile on his face. Kennedy gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Eric Draven has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steven Kennedy.
Kennedy has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Draven.

Kennedy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Draven manages to avoid it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Draven lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Draven throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Kennedy misses with a body shot.
Draven swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Kennedy tries to clinch up but Draven circles away and keeps his distance.
A solid leg kick lands there for Kennedy.
Kennedy throws a lazy uppercut
and Draven connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kennedy with a poor takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Draven throws a half hearted mid kick.
Draven blocks a low kick nicely.
Draven is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Draven dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kennedy fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Draven misses with a series of wild punches.
Kennedy is looking for the big counter here.
Good exchange - Kennedy coming out on top.
Kennedy misses with a body kick.
Draven feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Kennedy throws a body kick that misses
and Draven makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Draven swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kennedy appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Kennedy shoots in and bounces Draven off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Kennedy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Draven has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kennedy has managed to get both his arms back between Draven's legs - danger averted.

Draven is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Kennedy frees his head nicely. Oh but Draven has switched to an armbar! Kennedy is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
