PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Barry White (ranked 3336 p4p, 384 weight class) and Ken Robinson (ranked 710 p4p, 102 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Barry White !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ken Robinson!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Sandra Marshall.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Robinson gets a takedown into half guard.
Robinson slows the pace down in half guard.
Robinson wants to take a breather but White is having none of it.
White slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Robinson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! White is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Robinson, into his guard.

Robinson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but White can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Robinson has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Island Sparring. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
White looking to sit in guard and control but Robinson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

White manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Robinson manages to get himself to full guard.

Robinson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. White stacks Robinson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by White !

White is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Robinson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

You can see the frustration on Robinson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Robinson is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but White is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Barry White will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Robinson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Robinson wants it to stay on the feet.

White closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - White lands in his opponent's guard.

Robinson reaches up around White 's neck trying to control. But White takes advantage instantly and he's locked on an arm triangle! Big trouble for Robinson! Oh that looks nasty! A human being's head is not meant to turn that color! Robinson is out! He's gone limp! The ref steps in to break the fighters up and White celebrates the victory with the fans!
