PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Abdulrahman Al Abdullah (ranked 3984 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyrone Davis (ranked 2893 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Abdulrahman Al Abdullah !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tyrone Davis!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Al Abdullah defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Davis.
Al Abdullah throws a right and a left that both miss.

Davis drives through with a takedown into guard.
Al Abdullah wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Davis controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Davis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Davis connects with a couple of short punches.
Davis tries to free his leg and advance position but Al Abdullah is retaining full guard.
Davis slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Davis wants to control from the top but Al Abdullah keeps moving.
Al Abdullah is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Al Abdullah working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Davis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Davis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Al Abdullah utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Al Abdullah avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Al Abdullah looking for a sweep. Not yet Al Abdullah , not yet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Davis wants to stand but Al Abdullah is controlling his posture from full guard.
Davis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Al Abdullah is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Davis throwing strikes but missing.
Davis stays in close to Al Abdullah 's body and controls the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Al Abdullah tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Davis paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Davis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Al Abdullah kicks Davis off and gets back to his feet.
Davis misses with a wild combination.

Davis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Davis is trying to drag Al Abdullah to the mat but Al Abdullah just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Davis drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Al Abdullah gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Abdulrahman Al Abdullah has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyrone Davis.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Al Abdullah tries to break free but Davis pushes him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Abdulrahman Al Abdullah will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Al Abdullah darts in looking for a takedown but Davis gets double underhooks and turns Al Abdullah into the cage.

Davis moves into the clinch.
Al Abdullah managing to block the knees to the body from Davis.
Al Abdullah on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
A frustrated look appears on Al Abdullah 's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Davis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
No luck for Al Abdullah with that takedown attempt.
Al Abdullah misses with a takedown attempt - Davis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Abdulrahman Al Abdullah . That's going to take a lot out of him.

Davis shoots in for a takedown but Al Abdullah shows good takedown defense.
Davis misses with a double jab.
Al Abdullah swings for the body but Davis moves out of range.

Davis pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Davis.
Davis is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Al Abdullah will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Davis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Al Abdullah . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Al Abdullah manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Davis tries to get to full guard but Al Abdullah has control of the leg.
Davis is staying active underneath Al Abdullah , who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Al Abdullah wants to stand up but Davis has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Davis trying to get back to full guard but Al Abdullah takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Abdulrahman Al Abdullah overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Al Abdullah looking to finish Davis with some ground and pound. This is bad for Davis!
Davis tries to hold on but Al Abdullah postures up.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Al Abdullah trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Davis wants to hold on but Al Abdullah pushes him away.

Al Abdullah looking to secure an arm triangle but Davis defends it well.
Al Abdullah wants to control the pace but Davis is squirming around nicely.
Al Abdullah is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Davis is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Al Abdullah throwing strikes here but Davis is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Al Abdullah takes Davis's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Davis is in trouble.
Al Abdullah is hanging on to Davis's back as he tries to escape.

Al Abdullah is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Davis has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Davis just trying to survive but Al Abdullah is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Davis closes the distance and clinches.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Al Abdullah trying to control the position but instead, Davis has worked for underhooks and has pushed Al Abdullah into the cage.
Al Abdullah is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Davis can do to turn this around?
Davis is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Al Abdullah pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Davis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Al Abdullah closes the distance and clinches up with Davis, looking for a takedown. Al Abdullah pushes Davis against the cage but Davis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Davis throws a punch but it's blocked by Al Abdullah .
Al Abdullah is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Al Abdullah tries to score a body lock takedown but Davis shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Davis has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Al Abdullah clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Davis trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Al Abdullah doesn't escape.
Al Abdullah breaks Davis's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Davis is trying to keep Al Abdullah in close.
Davis is pulling down on Al Abdullah 's head. It's preventing any offense from Al Abdullah , at least for the moment.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Davis can do anything to dispel that myth.

Davis parries the strikes from Al Abdullah easily there. Al Abdullah is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Davis to escape.

You can see the frustration on Davis's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

An elbow from Al Abdullah crashes against the mat.
Al Abdullah connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Davis some visible discomfort.
I wouldn't like to be where Davis is right now.
Al Abdullah is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Davis's shoulder. That is not cool.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The ground and pound from Al Abdullah seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Tyrone Davis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Abdulrahman Al Abdullah is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Al Abdullah wants to control but Davis is keeping him busy.

And that's the end of the fight!
Abdulrahman Al Abdullah showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Al Abdullah , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
