Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edmund Maloney (ranked 23095 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rendi Kurton (ranked 4622 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Maloney might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Sacred War by Alexandrov Red Army Choir. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Edmund Maloney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rendi Kurton!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Kurton does no damage.
Kurton misses the shot to the body.
Kurton avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kurton with the counter takedown but Maloney avoids it easily.
Maloney is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kurton.
Maloney misses with an uppercut.

Maloney clinches up against the cage.
Maloney drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Maloney tries to score a body lock takedown but Kurton shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Our sources have told us that Maloney has been working on his elbows in the gym.

Maloney jumps guard and drags Kurton to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Kurton engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kurton wants to pass the guard but Maloney is keeping the position.
Kurton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maloney. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Maloney lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Maloney passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Kurton is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Maloney stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Kurton throws a head kick that misses.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kurton.
Maloney doesn't manage to clinch there - Kurton circles away.
Kurton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Edmund Maloney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maloney misses with a few strikes there.
Maloney throws a jab when Kurton was well out of range.
Maloney throws out a powerful jab.

Kurton drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Kurton tries to score a power double leg takedown but Maloney sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kurton somewhat.
Edmund Maloney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rendi Kurton.
Horrible takedown attempt by Kurton or perhaps it was just good defense by Maloney, which made it look bad.

Maloney closes the distance and pushes Kurton back into the cage.
Kurton stops a takedown attempt from Maloney.

Maloney breaks from the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nice takedown defense from Maloney. No joy for Kurton on that attempt.
Maloney throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kurton sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kurton wants to counter the offense by Maloney and move into the clinch position.
A telegraphed right hand from Maloney misses the target.
Maloney scores with a jab to the head.
Kurton pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Maloney appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Maloney moves into the clinch successfully.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Kurton has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Maloney after a bit of a struggle.
Kurton looks winded!

Maloney escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Maloney!


It looks like Rendi Kurton has been cut.
Maloney throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kurton sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kurton is looking to clinch but Maloney is avoiding it.

Maloney has closed the distance and engaged Kurton in a clinch.
Maloney is struggling to control the position.
Kurton fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Maloney's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kurton scores with a sloppy right hand. Maloney should have avoided that one.
Kurton tries to clinch but Maloney moves out of range.

Maloney drops Kurton with a right and a left! Maloney comes rushing in but Kurton regains his composure and manages to keep Maloney in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kurton working for a triangle but Maloney defends it easily.

Maloney stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Maloney!
Kurton uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Maloney.
BOOM! Maloney lands a beautiful left hook that drops Kurton. Kurton tries to recover but Maloney is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Kurton lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Edmund Maloney!
Edmund Maloney decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
