Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cole gets a clinch.
kano gets underhooks to prevent Cole's takedown attempt.

kano pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
kano tries to clinch

and Cole counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
kano really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cole. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cole is working for a submission of some sort.

Cole passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for kano!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cole postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for kano to stand up.

Cole has hold of kano's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and kano manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

kano is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cole is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. kano can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cole won't let kano get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

and Cole counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for kano!

Cole gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Cole manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

kano gets to his feet - Cole follows without any prompting.

Cole darts in and clinches kano up against the cage.
kano keeps control of Cole as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

kano tries to pull guard but Cole holds him up against the cage and eventually kano drops back down to his feet.

Cole wants the takedown. kano is fighting it off but Cole persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in kano's guard against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
kano wants to stand but Cole is controlling the position.

Cole decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

kano darts in trying to clinch

and Cole counters with a shoot takedown. kano fights it but they end up in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

kano pushes Cole off and scrambles back to his feet.

Cole rushes kano and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

kano's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
kano keeps the fight on the outside.

Cole moves into the clinch successfully.

Cole is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. kano can't fight it off and eventually Cole manages to take the fight to the floor. kano looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
kano is looking to stand up but Cole isn't so interested in that idea.
kano throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Cole stands up over kano, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Cole drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and kano dives on top into guard.

Cole working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. kano doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. kano manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Cole escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. kano gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cole has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. kano is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Cole.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Cole is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! kano has his hands clasped together but Cole extends an breaks kano's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Cole.
