Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alvaro Marroquin (ranked 25283 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyung Yeon Kang (ranked 5743 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alvaro Marroquin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyung Yeon Kang!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Roberts and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kang misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Marroquin looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Kang drives through and clinches with Marroquin against the cage.
Kang is looking for a takedown.

Kang breaks from the clinch.

Kang has closed the distance and engaged Marroquin in a clinch.
Kang jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Marroquin walks away with a smile on his face. Kang gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Alvaro Marroquin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyung Yeon Kang.
Marroquin throws a hook to the side of Kang's head but Kang sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marroquin throws a left and a right that both miss
and Kang counters with a leg kick.

Kang gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Kang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Marroquin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Alvaro Marroquin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Kang shoots for a double leg takedown but Marroquin sprawls well. He's pushed Kang's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A little feinted left hand from Marroquin on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Marroquin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kang.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kang misses with a hook to the ribs.
Kang is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Kang escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Marroquin misses with a double jab
and Kang makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Marroquin really felt that one!
Kang keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kang is defended easily by Marroquin.
As Kang looks to move away, Marroquin throws a big counter combo but Kang just gets out of the way.

Kang closes the distance and pushes Marroquin back into the cage.
Marroquin is looking to break free of the clinch but Kang has double underhooks.

Kang's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kang plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Kang escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Marroquin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kang tries to counter by closing the distance.
Kang shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Marroquin pinned against the cage. Marroquin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kang misses with a takedown attempt - Marroquin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Kang is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Marroquin is trying to push Kang away but Kang has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Kang goes for a takedown attempt but Marroquin pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Marroquin misses with a series of wild punches.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kang closes this distance looking for a takedown but Marroquin circles away.
Marroquin moves forwards but Kang connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Marroquin throws out a loose jab but Kang uses good head movement to avoid it.
Despite the aggression on Kang's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Marroquin throws a right and a left that both miss.

Kang closes the distance and clinches.
Kang tries to throw a body punch but Marroquin avoids it by throwing Kang back against the cage.

Kang is pushing Marroquin up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Kang shoots in for a takedown but Marroquin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Marroquin throws a nice looking combination but Kang bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Marroquin throws a series of punches but Kang avoids them all with ease.
Kang shoots in but Marroquin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kang missing with a left hand there. Marroquin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Kang throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Marroquin rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kang moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kang shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Marroquin defends it nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
