Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Spencer Blakemond (ranked 3619 p4p, 416 weight class) and Alberto Moreno (ranked 3796 p4p, 426 weight class). Alberto Moreno is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Spencer Blakemond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alberto Moreno!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moreno wants to clinch.
Blakemond misses with a few strikes there.

Blakemond clinches up against the ropes.
Blakemond has Moreno pressed against the ropes, preventing Moreno from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Blakemond lands a body shot.

Blakemond pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Moreno tries to bum rush Blakemond with a series of wild strikes but Blakemond uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Blakemond rushes Moreno and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Moreno is trying to break free.
Moreno tries to circle away but Blakemond has him pinned against the ropes.

Blakemond breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moreno tries to clinch but Blakemond moves out of range.

Moreno lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Blakemond sprawling to the canvas. Moreno follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Blakemond hang on?


It looks like Spencer Blakemond has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Moreno tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Blakemond has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Moreno is working away from the top position though.
Blakemond regains full guard. Nicely done.
Blakemond has a closed guard, preventing Moreno from standing up.

Blakemond kicks Moreno off and gets to his feet.

Blakemond drives through and clinches with Moreno against the ropes.
Moreno tries to circle away but Blakemond has him pinned against the ropes.
Blakemond keeps control of Moreno as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Moreno tries to break the clinch but Blakemond is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moreno can't break the clinch.
Blakemond keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Moreno's efforts to push away.
Moreno can't break the clinch.
Moreno is trying to break the clinch but Blakemond is controlling him.

Blakemond breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Moreno tries to clinch up.
Blakemond fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Blakemond misses with a jab, cross combination.
Moreno doesn't manage to clinch there - Blakemond circles away.
Blakemond appears to be looking for a big counter.
Blakemond looks to land a combination but Moreno avoids it well.
Blakemond swats away the attempt to clinch by Moreno.
Blakemond moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Moreno scores with a jab. Blakemond acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Blakemond avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Blakemond is looking to counter punch.
Moreno wants to clinch up but Blakemond keeps it at a distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Blakemond swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Moreno tries to clinch but Blakemond moves out of range.
Moreno lands a lovely overhand right.
Moreno tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Blakemond manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Blakemond misses with a jab, cross combination.
Despite the aggression on Moreno's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Blakemond just misses with a punch to the body.

Moreno waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Blakemond. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Blakemond to the canvas! Can he finish him!?


Blakemond is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Moreno is looking to stand up but Blakemond won't let him.
Oh Blakemond is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Blakemond has his feet on Moreno's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Blakemond seems to have got his legs back now.
Blakemond walks straight into a right hand from Moreno - that's dropped him! Moreno jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Blakemond from any more punishment! Blakemond complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Alberto Moreno!
