PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tonkei Oloishona (ranked 1397 p4p, 167 weight class) and Desi Kraag (ranked 3081 p4p, 289 weight class). Oloishona comes to the cage accompanied by Keleya. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tonkei Oloishona!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Desi Kraag!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kraag fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Oloishona looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Oloishona ducks under a wild hook from Kraag.
As Kraag tries to get set, Oloishona tries to push him back and clinch up but Kraag manages to avoid the attempt.
Kraag misses with a wild body shot.
Oloishona shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kraag counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Kraag swings for the body but Oloishona moves out of range.
Kraag lands with a shot to the body.

Oloishona fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kraag sprawls well initially but Oloishona persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Kraag tries to get to full guard but Oloishona has control of the leg.

Kraag is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Oloishona pulls his head out easily.
Kraag wants to get back to full guard.

Kraag actively working from the bottom here.
Oloishona knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kraag on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Oloishona tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Kraag.

Oloishona stands up and beckons Kraag to join him on the feet.

Oloishona closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kraag is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Kraag looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Kraag has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Oloishona is working away from the top position though.

Kraag is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Oloishona pulls his head out easily.

Kraag is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Kraag working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Oloishona has passed into half guard!
Kraag is trying to maintain the position but Oloishona is very close to passing his half guard.
Kraag might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Oloishona haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tonkei Oloishona will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Oloishona looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Oloishona uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kraag.
We've been told by Oloishona's head coaches at The Elite FC that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Kraag is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Oloishona rather than just go for the knockout.
Kraag ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Oloishona moves away.
Tonkei Oloishona is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Oloishona shoots for a takedown but Kraag saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kraag takes a swing at Oloishona's ribcage but misses.
Oloishona wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Oloishona fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tonkei Oloishona. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kraag misses with a body shot.
Oloishona fails to land the takedown.

Oloishona dives in and grabs Kraag's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kraag pushes down on Oloishona's head and hops out.
Kraag throws out a counter right but Oloishona avoids it with no problem.
Oloishona keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kraag jabs at Oloishona's body.
Oloishona doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Oloishona fails with the takedown
and Kraag makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Kraag lands with a shot to the body.
Kraag throws a body shot but no joy.
Oloishona tries to counter by clinching up but Kraag breaks away and moves out of range.

Kraag gets caught flat footed, as Oloishona shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Kraag has his foot on Oloishona's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Oloishona works his way back into a safe position though.

Kraag is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Oloishona is aware though and is defending well.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kraag is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Oloishona rolls with it to try and escape but Kraag cranks on the arm and Oloishona is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Desi Kraag!
Desi Kraag seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
