PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fred Smith (ranked 7156 p4p, 526 weight class) and Georg Kramer (ranked 2283 p4p, 276 weight class). Georg Kramer told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fred Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Georg Kramer!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith with a poor takedown
and Kramer counters with a straight right hand.


It looks like Fred Smith has been cut.
Good standup being displayed there by Kramer as he connects with a hook.
Kramer throws a head kick but Smith moves out of range.
Smith avoids the body shot from Kramer.
Smith misses with a jab, cross combination.
Smith with a hook.

Smith pushes Kramer up against the cage in a clinch.
Kramer struggles to land a body shot inside as Smith controls his hands.
Kramer is working Smith over against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kramer doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Kramer lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Kramer tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Smith avoids it.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kramer.
Kramer lands with a left to the head.
Smith works on Kramer's body with a couple of short punches.

Kramer throws a punch but it's blocked by Smith.

Smith manages to pull guard.
Smith trying to keep a closed guard but Kramer is proving a slippery customer.
Kramer trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Kramer from controlling successfully.
Smith is trying to control the position but Kramer postures up.

Smith not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Kramer trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Smith is trying to keep Kramer in close.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Kramer takes a body punch but keeps moving.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.
Kramer is looking for the big counter here.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Kramer shows good takedown defense.

Kramer is looking to chop away at Smith's legs.
Smith tries to bum rush Kramer with a series of wild strikes but Kramer uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Georg Kramer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Smith tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Kramer blocks the body kick.
Smith misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kramer feints and then cracks Smith's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Smith down.
A big right from Kramer misses.
Kramer displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Smith.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kramer! But no joy.
Kramer connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Smith fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kramer, pushing him back against the cage.
Smith makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Kramer missing with knees to the body.
Kramer lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Smith lands a body shot.
Smith looking for a takedown.
Kramer prevents the takedown attempt.
Smith is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Kramer is defending well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kramer throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Smith on the side of the head.
Smith lands the left hand.
Smith looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Kramer slaps away a takedown attempt from Smith, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Georg Kramer dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Fred Smith's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Smith showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kramer.
Smith gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kramer counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Smith has closed the distance and engaged Kramer in a clinch.
Kramer has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Smith breaks the clinch.
Smith is looking to clinch.
Kramer missing with a left hand there. Smith was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
It looked like Smith wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith with a lazy takedown attempt
and Kramer counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Horrible takedown attempt by Smith or perhaps it was just good defense by Kramer, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fred Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Fred Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smith is defended easily by Kramer.
Kramer rushes Smith with punches - Smith moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Smith goes down! Kramer follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Georg Kramer!
