Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Boyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michio Rai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Billy Boyer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Billy Boyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michio Rai!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boyer tries to close the distance and clinch but Rai swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rai should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Boyer fails with the takedown.
Boyer is looking to clinch.
Boyer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rai swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Boyer moves in looking to clinch but Rai pushes him off.

Boyer fails with a takedown attempt.
Rai lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Boyer stuffs the takedown attempt from Rai. Rai gets slowly back to his feet.
Boyer scores with a hook to the body. Rai takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

and Rai counters by moving into the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Billy Boyer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boyer works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rai tries to keep at a distance but Boyer has taken the fight into the clinch.

Rai jumps into guard, dragging Boyer to the mat.

Rai is trying to control the position but Boyer postures up.

Boyer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rai on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rai working for submissions but it's allowed Boyer to get to half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
It looks like Boyer is going to stand back up.
Rai wants to improve his position but Boyer is controlling well.
Boyer wants to get back to his feet.

Rai is trying to control but can't.

Rai is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Boyer pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boyer closes the distance but Rai moves to the side
and Rai counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Boyer tries to bum rush Rai with a series of wild strikes but Rai uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Boyer doesn't manage to clinch there - Rai circles away.
Boyer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rai paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Boyer is looking to break free of the clinch but Rai has double underhooks.
Rai's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Rai lands a knee to the head.
Boyer fails to pull the fight into his guard.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Rai.
A short right from Boyer on the inside.
Rai has a couple of punches blocked by Boyer.
Rai prevents Boyer from breaking the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Michio Rai will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rai circles away from the clinch attempt.
Boyer misses with a takedown attempt - Rai sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Rai throws the kick towards the body but Boyer avoids it.
Boyer is looking to clinch.
Rai has his takedown stuffed

and Boyer holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Boyer tries to pull guard but Rai won't allow it.
Rai prevents Boyer from breaking the clinch.
Boyer lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Rai backwards.
Boyer takes a shot to the head.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Rai lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Boyer throws an elbow that misses.
Still in the clinch, Rai scores with a nice short uppercut.
Rai is breathing heavily.

Rai pulls Boyer into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rai had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Boyer is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rai Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Boyer's back instead.

Rai has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Boyer has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Rai keeps control of the position as Boyer tries to break free.

Rai is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Boyer is defending well though. Rai let's go of the attempt for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Boyer has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Boyer tries to break free.
Boyer looking very determined here, making life difficult for Rai.

Rai misses with punches from the back.

Rai working for the choke.
Boyer controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Rai is not going to allow Boyer to sit and survive in this position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Michio Rai showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Boyer has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Rai clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Rai is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Boyer.
Rai takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Rai looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Rai rolls, trying to escape but Boyer keeps control of the position.
Boyer slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rai is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Boyer.

Rai defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Boyer's arms.

Billy Boyer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Michio Rai is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rai rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Rai has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Boyer is working away from the top position though.

Billy Boyer showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Rai has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
