The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
PF misses with a right hand
and PF takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

PF gets tackled into the cage by Xavior. Xavior maintains the clinch.

Xavior manages to break the clinch.
PF misses with an uppercut
and Xavior counters with a straight right hand.

Xavior shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Xavior passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for PF!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

PF wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Xavior has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

PF rolls, trying to escape but Xavior keeps control of the position.
PF really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Xavior. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Horrible takedown attempt by Xavior or perhaps it was just good defense by PF, which made it look bad.
Dax Xavior seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

PF thuds his right hand into Xavior's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Xavior lunges at PF with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by PF's hand.

Xavior shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts PF as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dax Xavior. That's going to take a lot out of him.
PF lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Xavior is looking to clinch but PF is avoiding it.
It seemed like PF was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Xavior walks into a left hand.

PF connects with a single shot there.
PF is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Xavior.
Xavior avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

and PF makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Xavior fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
PF looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Xavior dives in and scores a takedown into PF's guard.

PF is looking for a triangle but Xavior pushes his legs off easily.
Xavior postures up and lands a big shot to PF's brow.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Xavior accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

PF looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Xavior has picked PF up and slammed him! PF can't keep hold of the triangle and Xavior manages to pass to side control!
PF tries to buck Xavior off but Xavior is having none of it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Xavior has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
PF is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if PF can do anything to dispel that myth.

Xavior tries for a kimura but PF is defending well.

Xavior decides to take the fight back to the feet.
PF rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Xavior counters with a three punch combo that has PF backing up. PF nods at Xavior to acknowledge the strikes.
Xavior darts in looking for a takedown but PF gets double underhooks and turns Xavior into the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
PF misses with a lunging right hand
and Xavior counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Xavior dives in for a single leg takedown but PF sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Xavior looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Xavior closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Alpha PF is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
PF circles away from the clinch attempt.

A little jabbing left from PF on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Xavior goes for a double leg but PF avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as PF continues to drive forward.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
PF leaves Xavior with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

PF slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Xavior takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Oh Xavior is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Xavior shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as PF sprawls well. PF wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Xavior gets slowly back to his feet.
PF cracks Xavior on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Xavior falls backwards against the cage. PF follows up with more strikes that drop Xavior to his knees. PF keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Xavior! This one is all over!
