The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Murphi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Machida.
Murphi misses with a kick to the body.
Machida avoids the head kick by Murphi.
Machida avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Murphi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Murphi lands with a kick to the temple. Machida shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Machida has Murphi pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Machida pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Murphi tumbling to the mat - Machida dives into Murphi's guard.

Murphi is pulling down on Machida's head. It's preventing any offense from Machida, at least for the moment.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Murphi jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Machida walks away with a smile on his face. Murphi gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

No joy there for Machida, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Machida takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Machida throws a combination. Murphi tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Murphi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Machida bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lyoto Machida showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
