Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerard Hayashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jones might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to click click boom!!!. Hayashi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Losing My Religion. Tommy Jones has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gerard Hayashi!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayashi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jones swivels and escapes.
Jones slips a jab and a cross from Hayashi.
No joy there for Jones, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hayashi throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Jones counters with a body kick.
Jones tests Hayashi's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Jones drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Jones decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Hayashi looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Jones shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hayashi's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones advances to half guard.
Hayashi looks gassed!

Jones decides to return to a standing position.

Jones drives through and clinches with Hayashi against the cage.

Hayashi is trying to drag Jones to the mat but Jones just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Jones breaks the clinch.
Gerard Hayashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hayashi throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Jones makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Hayashi really felt that one!

Hayashi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Hayashi manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Jones tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Hayashi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Hayashi is trying to work for a kimura but Jones is defending well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jones makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Hayashi looks to land a combination but Jones avoids it well.
A combination from Hayashi does no damage.
Hayashi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side.
Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Hayashi sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jones moves out of range of the body kick from Hayashi.

and Jones counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jones.
Hayashi drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jones gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Tommy Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerard Hayashi.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hayashi looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Jones has picked Hayashi up and slammed him! Hayashi can't keep hold of the triangle and Jones manages to pass to side control!

Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hayashi connects with a nice short shot to Jones's temple.

Hayashi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hayashi misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones wanted to stand there but Hayashi had control of the position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Hayashi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there.

Tommy Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hayashi is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Jones asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Hayashi is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hayashi postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hayashi is controlling him.
Hayashi looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gerard Hayashi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tommy Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jones is pushing down on Hayashi's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hayashi is fighting to maintain full guard but Jones has managed to sneak the leg through.

Well Jones has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
