Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Andrew Berry and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
manson thows a body shot but no joy.
manson tries for a takedown but Payette sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
manson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Payette's waist but Payette gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing manson off to one side.
manson wants to clinch up but Payette keeps it at a distance.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by manson!
manson tests Payette's chin there with a solid looking shot.
manson shoots in but Payette avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Andre Payette has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of paul manson.
Payette misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from manson.
Payette throws a series of punches but manson moves out of range.

paul manson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
manson stalks Payette and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Payette's face. Payette staggers backwards, shaken.
manson tries for a takedown but Payette sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
manson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
manson throws the kick towards the body but Payette avoids it.
manson misses with a two punch combination.
manson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

manson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

manson wants to stand but Payette is controlling his posture from full guard.
Payette might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from manson lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Payette has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Payette and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Payette uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by manson.
manson shoots in for a double leg but Payette sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Payette decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Payette connects with a nice short shot to manson's temple.
Payette takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Payette is nestled in close to manson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Payette not landing any meaningful shots this time.

manson is refusing to be controlled, as Payette sits in half guard.

Payette is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
manson tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Payette looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Payette lands a nice short elbow.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Payette seems to be working for a kimura but manson defends the submission attempt.
Payette lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
manson looking for subs from the bottom but Payette mounts him!
manson is working to get back to half guard.
Payette controlling the position easily from mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Andre Payette will probably get the nod.
