PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ohil Bahaly (ranked 23898 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johan Ubercutt (ranked 2936 p4p, 0 weight class). Bahaly has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Johan Ubercutt told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Ohil Bahaly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johan Ubercutt!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ubercutt shoots in and bounces Bahaly off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Ubercutt sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ubercutt drops back looking for a leg! Bahaly is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bahaly manages to kick Ubercutt off! Ubercutt jumps back into Bahaly's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ubercutt gets to his feet. Bahaly looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ubercutt drives through and clinches with Bahaly against the cage.

Ubercutt breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ubercutt lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Ubercutt.


It looks like Ohil Bahaly has been cut.

Ubercutt clinches with his opponent.
With the fighters up against the cage, Bahaly throws an elbow but misses.
Bahaly throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Ubercutt successfully pulls guard.
Bahaly has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Ubercutt seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Ubercutt pushes Bahaly off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Bahaly is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Ubercutt will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Bahaly up against the cage.
Ubercutt lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Bahaly is trying to maintain a safe position but Ubercutt gets an underhook and turns Bahaly into the cage.
Bahaly comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Ubercutt scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Bahaly is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Ubercutt is keeping busy.

Ubercutt jumps guard and drags Bahaly to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Ubercutt is looking to stand up but Bahaly isn't so interested in that idea.

Ubercutt bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bahaly's guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ubercutt's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Ubercutt gets to his feet - Bahaly follows without any prompting.

Bahaly moves in looking to clinch but Ubercutt pushes him off.
Ubercutt thows a body kick. Bahaly tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Ubercutt rushes Bahaly and presses him up against the cage.

Ubercutt is pushing Bahaly up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Ubercutt pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Ubercutt gets control of Bahaly's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ubercutt will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ubercutt gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Ubercutt lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Ubercutt jumps into guard, dragging Bahaly to the mat.
Bahaly wants to stand but Ubercutt is controlling his posture from full guard.
Ubercutt has control of Bahaly's left arm, preventing Bahaly from doing any damage.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ubercutt is on top in guard.

Ubercutt is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Ubercutt stands up and waves to Bahaly to follow him.
Ohil Bahaly is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Ubercutt clinches up against the cage.

Ubercutt breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ubercutt connects with an inside leg kick.
Bahaly doesn't manage to clinch there - Ubercutt circles away.
Bahaly tries to clinch but Ubercutt moves out of range.

Ubercutt pulls guard effortlessly.

Ubercutt is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Bahaly presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johan Ubercutt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ubercutt manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Bahaly just misses with a elbow thrown towards Ubercutt's brow.
Bahaly throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Ohil Bahaly has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Johan Ubercutt is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Bahaly pushes off an throws an elbow but Ubercutt leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Well Ubercutt has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
