Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lance King (ranked 5170 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicolette Shea (ranked 6705 p4p, 0 weight class). Nicolette Shea has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Lance King's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lance King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nicolette Shea!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shea misses with a combination
and King counters with a solid body kick.
Shea shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has King pinned against the cage. King gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
King on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Shea. Shea obviously looking to wear him down.

King shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Shea looking to control but King passes into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shea is looking for a sweep. King is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Shea is looking to control King's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Shea avoid being mounted?
King throws a strike but Shea avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
King might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Shea is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
King controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Shea is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
King seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shea for as long as he can get away with.
We've been hearing that King has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Shea got a little sloppy there for a moment and King has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shea has managed to get both his arms back between King's legs - danger averted.
King seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
King bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Shea's guard.

King postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Shea is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of King, into his guard.

Shea slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That was a close round but I would say that Lance King will probably get the nod.

King postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

and King counters with a three punch combo that has Shea backing up. Shea nods at King to acknowledge the strikes.
Shea is breathing heavily.
King shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Shea eats them both and turns towards King to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

King darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
King throws a strike but Shea avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

King wants to stand but Shea is controlling his posture from full guard.

King is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shea can do to turn this around?

King gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Shea is not content to let King control the position.
Shea is letting King control him for a moment.
King creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

King content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lance King dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


King scores with a one two! Shea had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

King moves into the clinch successfully.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

King will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Shea controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lance King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

King shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Shea takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
King uses his free foot to push down on Shea's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Shea.

King can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Shea is looking to escape.
Shea is wriggling around trying to escape.

King is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Shea has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Shea!

King is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

King is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Lance King showed his dominance in that final round.
Well King has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Lance King tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
