Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Colin Lamprey (ranked 4609 p4p, 348 weight class) and Joe Castro (ranked 3954 p4p, 0 weight class). Castro comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Win kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Colin Lamprey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Castro!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Kavanagh and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lamprey throws a big shot that misses.

Castro fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lamprey, pushing him back against the cage.
Lamprey stalling against the cage.
Lamprey just leaning against Castro, taking a breather.
Lamprey can't find room to land a body shot as Castro controls the action.
Castro is trying to drag Lamprey to the mat but Lamprey just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Castro wants a takedown but no success here.

Lamprey breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Castro.
Colin Lamprey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Castro.

Lamprey pushes Castro up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lamprey breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lamprey throws a hook but Castro avoids it easily.
Castro was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Lamprey misses with a shot to the body
and Castro counters with a nice leg kick.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Castro has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Colin Lamprey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Castro misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A punch lands to the side of Castro 's head but he takes it in his stride.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lamprey pivots, looking for a leg kick but Castro is out of range and Lamprey settles back down.
Castro fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Lamprey misses with a body shot.
Castro looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lamprey is fending him off so far but Castro persists. Nope, Lamprey circles away and we're back to standing.
Colin Lamprey is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lamprey swinging wildly here.
Lamprey misses with a few strikes there.

Lamprey moves into range and clinches up with Castro.
Lamprey taking a breather.

Lamprey escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Castro throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Castro gets a takedown into half guard.

Castro seems to be working for a kimura but Lamprey defends the submission attempt.
Lamprey knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Castro on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Castro seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lamprey pushes Castro off looking to stand but Castro dives back in and keeps control.
Castro thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Castro tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lamprey knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Lamprey avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Castro.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Castro seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Lamprey is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Joe Castro!
A very excited looking Joe Castro rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
