Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Louis Edwards (ranked 4767 p4p, 0 weight class) and Badreddine Hawasleh (ranked 4037 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Louis Edwards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Badreddine Hawasleh!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Eddie Farnsworth and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Edwards closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Edwards wants to pass to mount but Hawasleh is defending the position.

Edwards is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hawasleh has managed to free his arm - good work.
Hawasleh is trying to stand.
Still in half guard, Edwards seems content to control.
Edwards seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hawasleh for as long as he can get away with.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hawasleh manages to get to full guard.

Edwards is stalling in the full guard.
Edwards throwing strikes but missing.
Hawasleh has a closed guard, preventing Edwards from standing up.
Edwards slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Edwards drives through with a takedown into guard.

Edwards wanted to stand there but Hawasleh had control of the position.
Hawasleh working a defensive guard but Edwards manages to pass into side control anyway.
Hawasleh takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Edwards working the ground and pound but Hawasleh is defending the strikes.
Edwards content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Edwards throws an elbow but Hawasleh slips to the side and avoids it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Edwards remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Edwards stands up and beckons Hawasleh to his feet.

Edwards shoots in and bounces Hawasleh off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Edwards won't allow Hawasleh to sweep him here.

Edwards gets to his feet. Hawasleh looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Hawasleh shoots in for a takedown but Edwards shows good takedown defense.

Edwards looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hawasleh!
Edwards in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hawasleh is being controlled here.

Edwards decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hawasleh to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Edwards moves into range and clinches up with Hawasleh.
Hawasleh tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Edwards working aggressively here.

Edwards successfully pulls guard.
Edwards wants to improve his position but instead Hawasleh has moved into half guard.
Hawasleh wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Edwards uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Edwards keeping moving, preventing Hawasleh from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Edwards throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Edwards pulls Hawasleh in close to prevent any damage.

Hawasleh stops Edwards from standing up.
Hawasleh being controlled here momentarily.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hawasleh trying to control the position from guard on top but Edwards is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Edwards rushes Hawasleh and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Edwards has hold of one of Hawasleh's legs. Hawasleh is fighting the takedown attempt but Edwards gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Edwards is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hawasleh can do to turn this around?
Edwards not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Edwards stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Edwards shoots for a double leg takedown but Hawasleh sprawls well. He's pushed Edwards's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hawasleh with the counter takedown but Edwards avoids it easily.
Hawasleh shoots in for a takedown but Edwards shows good takedown defense.
Hawasleh is breathing heavily.
Hawasleh dives in and grabs Edwards's left leg, looking for a takedown. Edwards pushes down on Hawasleh's head and hops out.
As Hawasleh tries to get set, Edwards tries to push him back and clinch up but Hawasleh manages to avoid the attempt.
Louis Edwards has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Badreddine Hawasleh.

Edwards passes into side control, despite Hawasleh's attempt to control the position.

Edwards in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Edwards is working to tighten his grip on Hawasleh's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Hawasleh has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Edwards is really squeezing tight and eventually Hawasleh passes out! Edwards breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
