Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Greg Ayala (ranked 6755 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Hunter (ranked 4686 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Greg Ayala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, DJ Hunter!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hunter feints and as Ayala raises his hands in defense, Hunter changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hunter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Ayala bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hunter's guard.

Hunter is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hunter wants to stand and escape but Ayala is having none of it.

Hunter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ayala is one step ahead there.
Hunter has his hands on Ayala's head, controlling the position.
Hunter bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ayala's guard.

Hunter stays in close to Ayala's body and controls the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ayala controls Hunter momentarily but Hunter frees himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ayala can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hunter controls the pace.
Hunter lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Hunter wants to get up but he can't break Ayala's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Hunter drives through with a takedown into Ayala's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Ayala wants to sweep here but Hunter controlling him for the moment.

Hunter drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ayala looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ayala looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ayala!

Hunter is looking for a sweep.
Hunter gets back to half guard.
Hunter is looking for a sweep. Ayala is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Hunter trying to hold on to Ayala's head to control him but Ayala postures up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hunter is controlling Ayala's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Hunter gets back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hunter throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ayala was covering up waiting for the punch and Hunter finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Ayala really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hunter seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Hunter slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Hunter clinches up with Ayala and pushes him back against the cage.
Hunter wants a takedown.
Ayala trying to control the position but instead, Hunter has worked for underhooks and has pushed Ayala into the cage.
Hunter tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ayala just stands there and leans against the cage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Hunter.
Ayala stalling in the clinch but Hunter improves position.
Hunter lands a shot to the body.
Hunter is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Ayala gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Greg Ayala has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of DJ Hunter.

Hunter drags the fight down to the ground.
Ayala throws a big right hand that misses.
Hunter has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Ayala throws an elbow that misses. Hunter uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ayala's guard. Nice move by Hunter!

Hunter has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ayala is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hunter's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hunter pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ayala is keeping the position for now.
Hunter stays in close to Ayala's body and controls the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

DJ Hunter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Hunter feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hunter is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ayala is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ayala has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ayala is looking to reverse the position.
Hunter lands a nice forearm strike.
Hunter advances to full mount.
A nice elbow there by Hunter.
Hunter tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hunter fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


Ayala is rocked!

Hunter is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ayala has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Oh Ayala is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hunter has hold of Ayala's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ayala manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
