Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fernando Martinez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Somsak Ngo!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martinez tries to clinch up.
Martinez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ngo is fending him off so far but Martinez persists. Nope, Ngo circles away and we're back to standing.
Martinez tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Martinez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ngo swivels and escapes.
Ngo punishes Martinez's body with a nice straight punch.
Martinez misses with a series of wild punches.
Ngo changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Somsak Ngo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martinez is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ngo circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ngo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Ngo's coach down at Valhalla MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Ngo's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martinez doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ngo counters with a thumping low kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fernando Martinez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ngo clinches with his opponent.
Ngo lands a right hand.

Ngo breaks the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ngo connects with a good right hand that stumbles Martinez. Martinez circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A nice inside leg kick there by Ngo. That's going to slow Martinez down.
Martinez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ngo's waist but Ngo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Martinez off to one side.
Ngo stuffs the takedown.
Ngo swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Somsak Ngo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Martinez is breathing heavily.
Martinez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Martinez on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Ngo lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
A slapping leg kick lands for Ngo.
Martinez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ngo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ngo cracks Martinez with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Martinez takes a kick to the side of the head.
Ngo listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Ngo cracks Martinez with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Ngo has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Martinez to stand back up!


Martinez is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A nice leg kick lands there from Ngo.
Oh Martinez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ngo delivers a nice body kick.
Ngo lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Martinez falls backwards - clearly groggy! Ngo dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Somsak Ngo!
After winning the bout, Somsak Ngo thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
