Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bert Rivers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bart Grominsky!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Grominsky feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Grominsky thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Rivers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Grominsky on the ground.

Rivers is looking for a triangle but Grominsky pushes his legs off easily.
Rivers keeping moving, preventing Grominsky from controlling successfully.

Grominsky drops back looking for a leg! Rivers is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rivers manages to kick Grominsky off! Grominsky jumps back into Rivers's guard.

Grominsky thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Rivers keeping full guard, as Grominsky tries to pass.
Grominsky stays in close to Rivers's body and controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grominsky wants to control from the top but Rivers keeps moving.
Rivers trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Grominsky working some strikes from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grominsky controls from within his opponent's guard.
Rivers keeping moving, preventing Grominsky from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rivers bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Grominsky's guard.

Grominsky pulls Rivers in to control the position.
Rivers looking to sit in guard and control but Grominsky gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Grominsky pushing down on Rivers's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Grominsky is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Rivers is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Bart Grominsky!
