PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miquel Oneill (ranked 4797 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Brisping (ranked 4768 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Brisping's choice of entrance music: Tears Dont Fall. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Miquel Oneill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, William Brisping!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brisping throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Oneill was covering up waiting for the punch and Brisping finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Oneill might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Brisping is pushing down on Oneill's leg trying to pass to half guard. Oneill is fighting to maintain full guard but Brisping has managed to sneak the leg through.
Brisping keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Let's hope that Brisping has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brisping tries to pass the half guard into mount. Oneill knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Oneill wants to stand back up but Brisping manages to pass into side control.

Brisping looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Oneill is not content to let Brisping control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Brisping controlling the position from side mount.
Brisping cracks Oneill with a big elbow.
Oneill parries the strikes from Brisping easily there. Brisping is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Oneill to escape.

Brisping wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Oneill, who protects the arm well.
Oneill knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brisping on the ground.

Brisping tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Brisping has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brisping controls the position.

Brisping tries for a kimura but Oneill is defending well.

Oneill stops Brisping from passing to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Brisping is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Oneill's shoulder. That is not cool.

Brisping tries to move to mount but Oneill blocks the move with his legs.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Brisping working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Brisping dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Brisping has closed the distance and engaged Oneill in a clinch.

Oneill has clasped his hands together around Brisping's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Brisping gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Brisping is trying to stand.
Brisping has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Oneill working Brisping over with strikes.
Oneill throws a strike but Brisping avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Brisping throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Brisping is on top in guard.

Brisping wants to control from the top but Oneill keeps moving.
Brisping connects with a couple of short punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brisping is looking to work some ground and pound but Oneill has wrist control.
Brisping throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Oneill works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Brisping passes Oneill's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Brisping with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Brisping.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Brisping throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Brisping looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Brisping passes to full mount!
Brisping controlling from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Oneill is looking to get to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Brisping controlling the position easily from mount.
Brisping is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Oneill can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Brisping tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Oneill really is a fat lump.
Oneill is in a horrible position here. Brisping smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Brisping controlling the pace for now.
Brisping looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Oneill covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
