Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Expendable Crewman V (ranked 905 p4p, 115 weight class) and Dmitri Zaitsev (ranked 1349 p4p, 154 weight class). Crewman V's entrance music is Star Trek. A fine choice. Dmitri Zaitsev has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crewman V throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Crewman V scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Zaitsev misses with a wild body shot.
It looked like Crewman V wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Crewman V ducks under a wild hook from Zaitsev.
Crewman V went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Zaitsev jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Crewman V connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Zaitsev momentarily.
Crewman V wants to clinch.
Crewman V is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Zaitsev.

It seemed like Zaitsev was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Zaitsev throws the kick towards the body but Crewman V avoids it.

Zaitsev shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Crewman V counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Zaitsev is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Crewman V dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Zaitsev. That did some damage!
We've been told by Crewman V's head coaches at Scotty's Yard that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Zaitsev with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Crewman V to score with a decent uppercut.

Zaitsev chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Crewman V can pounce on him.
Crewman V lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Crewman V scores with the left hand. Zaitsev knows he should have avoided that one.
Crewman V connects with a leg kick. Zaitsev looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Crewman V lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Zaitsev's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Zaitsev lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Crewman V backs up against the cage.

Crewman V tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Zaitsev manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Crewman V throws an overhand right that lands on Zaitsev's shoulder, as Zaitsev tries to avoid the shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Zaitsev shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Crewman V manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
My spies in The Basement inform me that Zaitsev has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Crewman V tries to lock up and control but Zaitsev gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Zaitsev unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Crewman V wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Zaitsev celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
