Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Exar Sotomayor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stewart McCaffrey!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Alyssa Summers and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCaffrey throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sotomayor's waist but Sotomayor gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McCaffrey off to one side.
Some wild striking there from Sotomayor.
Sotomayor throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
McCaffrey walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
McCaffrey is rocked!
McCaffrey closes the distance and clinches up with Sotomayor, looking for a takedown. McCaffrey pushes Sotomayor against the cage but Sotomayor circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
An attempted straight right counter from Sotomayor misses the target.
McCaffrey is still on wobbly legs! Can Sotomayor finish him?
McCaffrey shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Exar Sotomayor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stewart McCaffrey.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Sotomayor has cracked McCaffrey with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Sotomayor lands another huge swinging hook and McCaffrey tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save McCaffrey, before Sotomayor can land any more shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Exar Sotomayor!
