Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Crison Omayao (ranked 6256 p4p, 0 weight class) and Silas Smith (ranked 4139 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Crison Omayao has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Crison Omayao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Silas Smith!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Omayao shoots and misses

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith controlling the pace.
Smith trying to mount his opponent but Omayao defends it.
Omayao moves into full guard.
Smith wants to get up but he can't break Omayao's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith forces his way into half guard.
Smith perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Let's hope that Smith has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Omayao has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Smith is working away from the top position though.
Omayao wants to improve his position but Smith is controlling well.
Omayao is working hard here to advance position.
Omayao slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Smith controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Smith is looking to stand up but Omayao won't let him.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Smith drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Omayao dives on top into guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth.
Smith bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Omayao's guard.

Smith throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Omayao has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Smith has passed into side control.
Omayao is looking to regain half guard here but Smith keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Smith scores with punches from side control.
Omayao might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Omayao is trying to improve his position.
Smith tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Omayao tries to control but Smith manages to take his back.
Smith controlling the position well here. Omayao rolled but Smith kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Smith is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Smith tries to get the hooks in deep but Omayao pushed the leg off.

Omayao is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Smith.

Smith fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Omayao sprawls well initially but Smith persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Omayao kicks Smith off and gets back to his feet.
Smith misses with a double jab.
Omayao tries to counter with a takedown but Smith is quick to defend against it.
Omayao misses with a two punch combination.
Smith goes for a double leg but Omayao avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Omayao continues to drive forward.
Omayao throws a big counter combination but Smith scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Omayao throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Omayao closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Smith pulls guard.
Smith pulls Omayao in close to his closed guard and prevents Omayao from doing any damage or advancing position.
Omayao would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Omayao won't allow Smith to sweep him here.
Smith can't keep his opponent in guard - Omayao advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Smith moves into full guard.
Omayao wants to get up but he can't break Smith's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Omayao is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Smith is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Omayao is fighting to break Smith's control of his arms but Smith is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Omayao fails to land the takedown.
Smith darts in looking for a takedown but Omayao gets double underhooks and turns Smith into the cage.
Nice takedown defense from Omayao. No joy for Smith on that attempt.
Omayao attempts a counter takedown but Smith avoids it well and moves away.
Crison Omayao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Silas Smith.

Omayao shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smith sprawls well. Smith wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Omayao gets slowly back to his feet.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Horrible takedown attempt by Omayao or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith, which made it look bad.

Smith fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Omayao avoids it really well and circles away.
Omayao swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Omayao uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Smith.
A quick step to the side and Omayao tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Smith drives through and clinches with Omayao against the cage.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Smith stands and throws Omayao's legs to the side, diving into side control.
