Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marko Petrovic (ranked 3316 p4p, 296 weight class) and Edmund Maloney (ranked 4450 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Maloney's choice of entrance music: The Sacred War by Alexandrov Red Army Choir. Edmund Maloney will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maloney is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Maloney throws a right and a left that Petrovic avoids nicely.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Petrovic throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Maloney was covering up waiting for the punch and Petrovic finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Petrovic closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Maloney seems a little lost for a moment, as Petrovic dominates the positioning.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Petrovic seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Maloney for as long as he can get away with.

Petrovic is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Maloney's shoulder. That is not cool.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Petrovic moves nicely into side control.
Petrovic remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That was a close round but I would say that Marko Petrovic will probably get the nod.

Maloney moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Maloney connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Petrovic's hands.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Maloney scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Petrovic is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Maloney will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Petrovic is working to tighten his grip on Maloney's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Maloney has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Petrovic is really squeezing tight and eventually Maloney passes out! Petrovic breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
