Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Randy Liddel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Latendresse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Latendresse has chosen I Gotta Feeling as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Jonathan Latendresse enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Randy Liddel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jonathan Latendresse!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Liddel closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Latendresse looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Liddel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Latendresse walks away with a smile on his face. Liddel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Latendresse misses with a wild combination.

Liddel darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Liddel lands with a punch from half guard.
Latendresse is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Liddel is looking to take a break and control but Latendresse is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Liddel performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Liddel wants to control but Latendresse is keeping him busy.
Still in half guard, Liddel seems content to control.
Latendresse avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Liddel.

Latendresse is staying active underneath Liddel, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Latendresse kicks off Liddel and gets to his feet.
Liddel tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Latendresse swivels and escapes.
Liddel could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Latendresse takes a head kick and keeps coming.


It looks like Jonathan Latendresse has been cut.

Liddel fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Latendresse, pushing him back against the cage.
Liddel drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Randy Liddel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Liddel scores with a knee to the head.
Liddel fails to pull guard.
Liddel has had enough of the clinch but Latendresse keeps him there for the moment.
Latendresse wants to break free but Liddel has control.
Latendresse dodges an elbow strike from Liddel.
Liddel tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Latendresse smiles and moves away.
Liddel ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Liddel connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Liddel tries to clinch up.

Liddel clinches up with Latendresse and pushes him back against the cage.
Liddel is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Latendresse gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Liddel makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Liddel is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Liddel fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Liddel prevents the takedown attempt.
Liddel tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Latendresse is pressed up against the cage. Liddel has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Latendresse down to the mat. Latendresse avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Liddel tries to close the distance and clinch up but Latendresse swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Liddel takes the fight into the clinch.
Liddel tries to score a body lock takedown but Latendresse shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Liddel breaks the clinch.
Liddel shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Latendresse as he avoids it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Liddel misses with a takedown attempt - Latendresse sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Liddel tries for a takedown but Latendresse sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Latendresse blocks a head kick by Liddel.

Latendresse gets the takedown into side control.
Latendresse in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Latendresse controls the position from side control.
You can see the frustration on Liddel's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Latendresse fails to land a wild elbow strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Liddel is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Latendresse has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Liddel gets back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Latendresse wants to control but Liddel is keeping him busy.
Latendresse is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Latendresse not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Latendresse throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Latendresse has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Latendresse stuffs the takedown.
Liddel closes the distance and clinches up with Latendresse, looking for a takedown. Liddel pushes Latendresse against the cage but Latendresse circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Liddel keeps control of Latendresse as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Latendresse goes for a takedown attempt but Liddel pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Randy Liddel will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Jonathan Latendresse's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Latendresse counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Liddel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Latendresse doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Latendresse manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Latendresse trying to control the position from guard on top but Liddel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Latendresse throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Liddel works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Liddel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Liddel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Latendresse gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Latendresse throws and elbow that misses. Liddel uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Latendresse's guard. Nice move by Liddel!
Latendresse wants to get back to his feet but Liddel is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Liddel throws a nice head kick!

Liddel fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Latendresse, pushing him back against the cage.

Liddel breaks the clinch.
Liddel moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Liddel fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Liddel tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Latendresse counters with a shoot takedown. Liddel fights it but they end up in guard.
Liddel managing to control the position.
Liddel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Latendresse on the ground.
Liddel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Liddel might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Latendresse would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Latendresse working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Liddel wants to stand and escape but Latendresse is having none of it.

Latendresse has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Liddel to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Latendresse is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Liddel pulls down on the head and he's put Latendresse to sleep! This one is all over!
