PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Szymon Zasada (ranked 5022 p4p, 0 weight class) and Finko Naikkorine (ranked 24515 p4p, 0 weight class). Naikkorine has chosen Mexico - The Dead Daisies as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Szymon Zasada has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Szymon Zasada seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Phil Schofield and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zasada misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Zasada tries to clinch but Naikkorine moves away
and Naikkorine counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Naikkorine gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Zasada to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Zasada wants to pass the guard but Naikkorine is keeping the position.
Naikkorine wants to get back to his feet but Zasada is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zasada postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Naikkorine is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Zasada, into his guard.

Zasada is trying to hold Naikkorine in close to prevent damage but Naikkorine has managed to pass into half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zasada has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Naikkorine is working away from the top position though.
Zasada wants to get back to his feet.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Zasada is looking to improve his position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Zasada tries to close the distance and clinch up but Naikkorine swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Zasada manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Naikkorine on his heels. He'll look to pass Naikkorine's guard now, I'm sure.

Naikkorine has his foot on Zasada's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Zasada works his way back into a safe position though.

Naikkorine slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

A close round but Finko Naikkorine will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Zasada is looking to clinch but Naikkorine is avoiding it.

Naikkorine fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Zasada sprawls well initially but Naikkorine persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Naikkorine keeps the fight on the outside.
Zasada throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
letting Naikkorine counter with a right hand.

Zasada tries to sprawl but Naikkorine drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Zasada tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Naikkorine manages to move to mount!
Zasada tries to hold on but Naikkorine pushes him away.

Naikkorine takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Finko Naikkorine has got the better of the ground game so far.
Zasada wants to control but Naikkorine is having none of it.
Zasada tries to control Naikkorine's body but Naikkorine pushes him off. Zasada squirms to his side and now Naikkorine has his back!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
