PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Edmonds (ranked 435 p4p, 64 weight class) and Bill Wilson (ranked 2930 p4p, 357 weight class). Edmonds comes to the cage accompanied by Frankie Smith - Double Dutch Bus. Bill Wilson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bill Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
An attempted straight right counter from Edmonds misses the target.
Wilson throws a lazy right hand but Edmonds sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Edmonds jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Wilson wants to clinch
and Edmonds counters with a right hand to the body.

Wilson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
We've been hearing reports that Edmonds has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Wilson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Wilson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Edmonds manages to avoid it.

Edmonds seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Wilson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Edmonds.
Wilson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Edmonds moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Edmonds.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Edmonds, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
