Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Iam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Erikson!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Iam connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Erikson momentarily.
Iam fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Erikson tries to counter by closing the distance.

Iam drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Erikson is looking to reverse the position.
Iam throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Iam misses with the ground and pound.
Iam misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Iam trying to control the position but Erikson is working away.
Iam in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Iam working the strikes but Erikson uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Erikson taking some punishment here, with Iam in his half guard.
Erikson is trying to get back to full guard.

Erikson is looking to improve his position.
Erikson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Iam. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Erikson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Iam has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Iam prevents Erikson from improving his position.
Iam looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Erikson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Iam throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Erikson is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Erikson has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Erikson is staying active underneath Iam, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Iam thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Iam stands up and beckons Erikson to join him on the feet.
Iam takes one to the side of the head.
Iam throws a lazy right hand but Erikson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Erikson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Iam misses with a hook
and Erikson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Iam throws a right and a left that Erikson avoids nicely.
Erikson lands with a shot to the body.
Iam throws a nice looking combination but Erikson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Iam tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Erikson was well out of range. Poor timing from Iam.
Iam throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Iam takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Iam misses with an uppercut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Erikson cracks the inside of Iam's front leg.
Iam misses with a lunging right hand
and Erikson counters with a lovely straight right hand!
A big left from Iam misses.
Nice uppercut lands for Erikson. That snapped Iam's head back.
Iam get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Iam stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the ropes but Erikson runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jon Erikson!
A very excited looking Jon Erikson made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
