PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Junior (ranked 3717 p4p, 397 weight class) and Erlend Jahr (ranked 5654 p4p, 500 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tommy Junior!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Erlend Jahr!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Santiago Holmes and David Hoff.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Junior throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jahr's waist but Jahr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Junior off to one side.
Junior definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Junior leaves Jahr with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Junior gets caught flat footed, as Jahr shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jahr is fighting to break Junior's control of his arms but Junior is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Junior will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Jahr drops back looking for a leg! Junior is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Junior manages to kick Jahr off! Jahr jumps back into Junior's guard.
Junior can't keep his opponent in guard - Jahr advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jahr is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Jahr looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

It looks like Jahr might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Jahr is trying to control the action in half guard but Junior is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Jahr is trying to control. Junior wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jahr content to control rather than advance.
Jahr wants to lay and pray for a moment but Junior keeps working.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Junior looks like he's trying to stand up.

Jahr looking for a submission but Junior manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Junior is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Jahr is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Jahr slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jahr trying to control the position from guard on top but Junior is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Junior.
Jahr manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Jahr moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Jahr manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Junior manages to get himself to full guard.

Jahr wants to work for an arm triangle but Junior is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jahr in particular looking to stall.
Jahr wants to take a breather but Junior is having none of it.
Jahr passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Junior!
Junior knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jahr on the ground.
Jahr looking to control but Junior is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Jahr goes for an armbar but Junior turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Junior.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jahr is looking for a triangle but Junior pushes his legs off easily.

Erlend Jahr dominated that round.

Jahr defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Junior.
Jahr fails with a takedown attempt.
Junior moves out of range as Jahr strikes.
Junior scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Junior displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jahr throws out the jab.
Tommy Junior seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jahr throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Junior sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Jahr checks a low kick from Junior.

Junior gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Jahr stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Junior swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jahr keeps trying to improve his position.

Jahr is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Junior is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Junior has escaped and now he's on top!

Jahr wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Jahr is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Junior defends well.
Jahr is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Erlend Jahr has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jahr has his foot on Junior's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Junior works his way back into a safe position though.

Junior has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Jahr celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Erlend Jahr tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
