Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Denis Davydov (ranked 5190 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edmund Maloney (ranked 25059 p4p, 0 weight class). Maloney comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Sacred War by Alexandrov Red Army Choir kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Vladimir Khabensky and Ivan Kurochkin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maloney throws a series of punches but Davydov avoids them all with ease.
Davydov is looking for a counter combo.

Maloney drops Davydov with a left right combo! Maloney follows him down to the ground into side control.

It looks like Denis Davydov has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Maloney is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Davydov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
You can see the frustration on Davydov's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Maloney is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Maloney swings around for an armbar but Davydov sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Maloney's guard.
Davydov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Maloney is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Davydov defends well.
Davydov not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Davydov gets to his feet - Maloney follows without any prompting.

Maloney catches Davydov napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Davydov to the canvas!

Davydov is rocked!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maloney sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Davydov's guard.
Oh Davydov is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Maloney lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Davydov quite badly. Davydov pulls Maloney in close trying to recover. Maloney postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Davydov on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Davydov doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Edmund Maloney!
In his post fight interview, Edmund Maloney started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
