Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Theo Avila (ranked 7782 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Solomon (ranked 4309 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Theo Avila!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Danny Solomon!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Solomon closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Avila to the mat! Avila manages to get full guard.

Avila is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Solomon works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Avila manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Solomon wants to break free but Avila has control.
Solomon tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Solomon is looking to break free of the clinch but Avila has double underhooks.
Avila misses with a punch on the inside.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Solomon prevents Avila from breaking the clinch.
Avila pushes off an throws an elbow but Solomon leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Avila can't break the clinch.

Solomon jumps into guard, dragging Avila to the mat.

Avila could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Solomon wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Avila manages to pass to side control.

Avila postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Solomon to stand up.

Solomon not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Solomon is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Solomon throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Solomon sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Avila defending well though.
Avila makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Avila.
Solomon scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Avila utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Avila tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Solomon postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Avila working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Solomon.
Avila wants to sweep here but Solomon controlling him for the moment.
Solomon trying to control the position from guard on top but Avila is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Solomon controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Solomon looking to sit in guard and control but Avila gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Solomon has momentary wrist control but Avila slips an elbow through the middle.

Avila wants to stand but Solomon has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Avila lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Theo Avila dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Avila closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Solomon's guard.
Avila is standing up over Solomon. Solomon looks to escape but Avila dives into side control.
Avila has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Solomon trying to control but Avila flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Solomon is in bad spot here.
Avila lands an elbow to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Solomon tries to escape but Avila has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Solomon is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Avila is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
You can see the frustration on Solomon's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
I really don't envy Solomon right now.
Avila is trying to stick to Solomon's back but Solomon is turning into Avila. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Avila's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Solomon.
Avila is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Solomon throws a big elbow that misses.
Solomon looking to sit in guard and control but Avila gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Solomon wants to sweep but no luck.

Solomon looking for a guillotine here but Avila defends easily.
Solomon is looking to sweep but instead, Avila has passed into half guard.
Solomon is breathing heavily.
Avila lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Solomon tries to roll over but Avila keeps him under control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Solomon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Avila is working away from the top position though.
Avila prevents Solomon from improving his position.
Solomon scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Avila manages to mount him!
Avila in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Solomon is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Theo Avila dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Avila gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Avila might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Avila seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

and Avila counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Avila.

Avila pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Solomon clinches up against the cage.
Avila throws an elbow that misses.

Solomon pulls guard effortlessly.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Avila is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Avila is stalling in the full guard.
Avila makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Avila gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Solomon fails to land with a series of punches.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Solomon fails in his attempt to clinch.

Avila clinches up with Solomon and pushes him back against the cage.

Avila is fighting off a takedown attempt but Solomon is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Avila to the mat. Avila regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Solomon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Solomon tries to stand but Avila is controlling from the bottom.
Avila wants to stand but Solomon is controlling the position.

Avila has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Solomon is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Solomon scores with a nice hook to the head.

Avila's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Solomon looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Avila is holding on to half guard well.
Solomon looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Solomon lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Solomon is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Avila defends it well.
Danny Solomon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Theo Avila is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Avila is pressing down on Solomon's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Theo Avila.
Well Avila has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
