Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gray Maynard (ranked 3021 p4p, 64 weight class) and Lucas Blye (ranked 3025 p4p, 65 weight class). Blye has chosen White Rabbit : Jefferson Airplane as his entrance music. Lucas Blye acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gray Maynard !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
21 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lucas Blye!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Chris Dean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blye closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Blye lands in his opponent's guard.
Maynard is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Maynard has his foot on Blye's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Blye works his way back into a safe position though.
Blye avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Blye stands and throws Maynard 's legs to the side, diving into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
You can see the frustration on Maynard 's face as Blye controls the position.
It looks like Blye might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Blye wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Maynard , who protects the arm well.

Maynard is refusing to be controlled, as Blye sits in half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

A combination from Blye does no damage.
Blye fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Maynard avoids it really well and circles away.
