Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yanji Klushinwa (ranked 5187 p4p, 519 weight class) and Supple Vines (ranked 4122 p4p, 456 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Yanji Klushinwa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Supple Vines!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, David Hoff and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Klushinwa drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Vines sneaks out the side door and pushes Klushinwa away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Vines moves in looking to clinch but Klushinwa pushes him off.
Klushinwa drops down looking for a counter takedown but Vines sprawls and moves away.
Klushinwa stuffs the takedown attempt from Vines. Vines gets slowly back to his feet.
Klushinwa changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Vines shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Klushinwa avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nice takedown defense from Klushinwa. No joy for Vines on that attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Vines.
Klushinwa seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Yanji Klushinwa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Supple Vines.

Vines shoots in and drives through. Klushinwa sprawls well.
Vines fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Klushinwa decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Klushinwa will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Still in half guard, Klushinwa seems content to control.
Klushinwa wants to take a breather but Vines is having none of it.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Klushinwa lands a nice short elbow.

Klushinwa has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vines swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

That was a close round but I would say that Yanji Klushinwa will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Klushinwa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vines pinned against the cage. Vines gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Vines shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Klushinwa sprawls well. Klushinwa wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Vines gets slowly back to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Klushinwa is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Vines's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Vines's back!

Yanji Klushinwa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

What can Vines do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Vines is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Klushinwa is riding his opponent, not letting Vines buck him off.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Klushinwa keeps control of the position as Vines tries to break free.

Klushinwa lands strikes to the head.
Vines is trying to stand back up.
Vines tries to roll but Klushinwa sticks to his back.
Klushinwa is looking to control Vines but Vines is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Klushinwa biding his time, controlling Vines.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Vines drops back, looking for a kneebar! Klushinwa looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Klushinwa looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Klushinwa!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vines can do anything to dispel that myth.
Klushinwa working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Vines is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Yanji Klushinwa.
Well Klushinwa has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
