PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Cena (ranked 5252 p4p, 0 weight class) and Perry Fortin (ranked 5311 p4p, 571 weight class). Cena comes into the arena with My Time Is Now blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fortin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cena's waist but Cena gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fortin off to one side.
Cena attempts a counter takedown but Fortin avoids it well and moves away.
Nice sprawl there from Cena as Fortin shoots in.
A shot to the body from Cena misses
and Fortin counters with a three punch combo that has Cena backing up. Cena nods at Fortin to acknowledge the strikes.
Fortin moves in looking to clinch but Cena pushes him off.
Perry Fortin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cena drops down looking for a counter takedown but Fortin sprawls and moves away.

John Cena has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Perry Fortin.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cena manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Fortin on his heels. He'll look to pass Fortin's guard now, I'm sure.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Fortin is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Cena off and has taken his back!

Cena really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Fortin's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.
I really don't envy Cena right now.

Even with his hooks in, Fortin manages to miss with strikes from the back.

Fortin thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Will Fortin go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

You can see the frustration on Cena's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Fortin is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Cena's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Cena postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Fortin covers up, he's hurt! Cena keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Cena and the ref steps in to end the fight! Cena can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
