The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blunt misses with a series of wild punches.
Blunt closes the distance and pushes Melendez back into the cage.
Melendez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Blunt pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A head kick misses from Blunt.
Blunt lands a head kick!
It looks like Thomas Melendez has been cut.
Blunt throws a left and a right that both miss
and Melendez counters with a takedown into side control.
Melendez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Melendez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Melendez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Melendez tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Blunt is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Melendez is controlling him well.

Melendez is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Blunt is trying to escape and Melendez transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Blunt is forced to tap! Nice work there by Melendez! Very nice indeed!
