The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mabini throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Makkeli stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Makkeli tries to clinch up
and Mabini counters with a straight right hand.

It looks like Mikko Makkeli has been cut.
Makkeli closes the distance and clinches up with Mabini, looking for a takedown. Makkeli pushes Mabini against the cage but Mabini circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Makkeli takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Mabini connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Makkeli fails with the takedown
and Mabini counters with a nice body shot.
Mabini lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Makkeli pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Makkeli is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Makkeli tries to land a front kick but Mabini steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Mabini is looking for a counter combo.

Makkeli throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Makkeli shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mabini but Mabini pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Apolinario Mabini has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mikko Makkeli.

Mabini fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Makkeli looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Mabini makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Mabini lands with a nice body punch.
Mabini lands with a big left! Makkeli is wobbled badly! Mabini comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Makkeli to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
