Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake Noneya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Erik Castro!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castro throws a hook to the side of Noneya's head but Noneya sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Castro displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Noneya.

Castro clinches up against the cage.
Castro tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Noneya smiles and moves away.
Noneya dives in and grabs Castro's left leg, looking for a takedown. Castro pushes down on Noneya's head and hops out.

Castro gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Castro is working for takedown but Noneya is calmly controlling the position for now.
Noneya tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Castro smiles and moves away.

Noneya fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Castro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Noneya gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Noneya passes Castro's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Castro can do anything to dispel that myth.

Noneya works to advance to full mount. Castro defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

That was a close round but I would say that Jake Noneya will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Castro lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Noneya at a distance.
Castro throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Noneya.

Noneya feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Noneya shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Noneya is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Castro!

Castro drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Noneya dives on top into guard.

Castro should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Noneya keeps control of Castro as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Castro wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Noneya has him pressed against the cage.
Jake Noneya is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jake Noneya.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Noneya, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
