Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Professor Xe (ranked 4060 p4p, 394 weight class) and Frik Van Wyk (ranked 7488 p4p, 525 weight class). Van Wyk is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Ska-Rumba. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Wyk takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
It looks like Professor Xe has been cut.
Van Wyk tries to close the distance and clinch but Xe swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Van Wyk looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Van Wyk fails in his attempt to clinch.
Xe feinted with a counter takedown.
Van Wyk wants to clinch
and Xe counters with a nice double leg into side control. Van Wyk won't be happy with that.
Xe in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Van Wyk is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Xe off and has taken his back!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Xe is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Xe breaks Van Wyk's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Van Wyk wants to control but Xe is keeping busy.

Xe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Xe working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Xe takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Xe passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Van Wyk!
Xe with shots to the head and body - Van Wyk looks very uncomfortable down there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Van Wyk takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

It looks like Frik Van Wyk has been cut.
Xe unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Van Wyk wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Xe celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Professor Xe!
Professor Xe decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
In defeat, Frik Van Wyk stepped up to the mic, saying 'You can only learn by losing. I will come back stronger!'.
