Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chief Chippewa (ranked 3167 p4p, 155 weight class) and Ze Nando (ranked 3830 p4p, 171 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Chippewa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ze Nando!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nando uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Chippewa.
Chippewa bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Nando's head.
Chippewa misses with a hook.

letting Nando counter with a right hand.


It looks like Chief Chippewa has been cut.

Nando shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Chippewa napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Chippewa is not content to let Nando control the position.
Chippewa manages to work his way to half guard, despite Nando's best efforts.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chippewa looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Chippewa wants to improve his position but Nando is controlling well.
Chippewa is working hard here to advance position.

Chippewa is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nando pulls his head out easily.
Nando content to control rather than advance.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chippewa gets back to full guard.

Nando got a little sloppy there for a moment and Chippewa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Nando has managed to get both his arms back between Chippewa's legs - danger averted.
Nando must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Chippewa looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Nando trying to control but Chippewa is working from the bottom.

Chippewa is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Nando looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Chippewa had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nando defends it easily.

Chippewa working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Nando has passed into half guard!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Chippewa wants to get back to full guard.
Chippewa is staying active underneath Nando, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Nando prevents Chippewa from improving his position.
Chippewa is pressing down on Nando's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Chippewa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nando defends well.

Chippewa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nando can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Chippewa looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Chippewa is looking for a triangle but Nando pushes his legs off easily.
Nando trying to control but Chippewa is working from the bottom.

Chippewa working for a triangle but Nando defends it easily.
Nando postures up in Chippewa's guard and throws a big left but Chippewa blocks it.

Nando is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Chippewa has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Nando is looking to defend but Chippewa has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Nando! Chippewa pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Nando taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Chief Chippewa!
Chief Chippewa seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
